  • What is the Regulatory Leadership Institute?

    Regulatory Leadership Institute IconProfessionals transitioning into higher leadership levels often face challenges while applying leadership theory into real life practice. The RAPS Regulatory Leadership Institute focuses on developing the critical competencies you need to step into a leadership role well-equipped and attuned to the challenges ahead.

    With an emphasis on cultivating self and situational awareness,  leadership skills, practice based activities, discussion and group coaching, this interactive and engaging program provides a solid foundation for leading yourself, your team and the organization.

    We will cover:

    • Interpersonal,  political, and organizational savvy
    • Decision-making
    • Influencing and inspiring others
    • Communicating for positive results
    • Aligning vision and action in teams and individual performance

    Day 1 of this two-day program will be devoted to transitioning into leadership roles with a focus on the skills and mindsets that enable a successful move from individual performer to leader, and building self-awareness about individual leadership preferences and styles.

    Minnie Baylor-Henry, JD

    Jan Rybeck

    Minnie Baylor-Henry is the former worldwide vice president of Regulatory Affairs-Medical Devices at Johnson & Johnson. She was responsible for regulatory affairs, strategy, and promotion for medical devices, pharmaceuticals and OTC products.

    Baylor-Henry coordinated the FDA’s position on health fraud cases across pharmaceutical, consumer and medical devices and led the FDA’s Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications (DDMAC).

    Baylor-Henry earned her Doctor of Law degree from the Catholic University of America.

    Susan Symington

    Susan Symington is the CEO of COPIA Coaching and Consulting, a company comprised of executives and experts uniquely qualified to coach and develop leaders in the public and private sectors. After 31 years with the US Government, she retired to begin coaching and consulting full time on leadership development in the public and private sectors. With many years of experience living and working overseas, Symington is particularly interested in cross-cultural coaching and feedback.

    A graduate of the Newfield Coach Training Program and an ICF certified coach, Symington has worked extensively in the intelligence community and the private sector. Symington has coached, consulted and taught widely in the international arena, including a leadership development course for RAPS in Singapore in 2015. Committed to work that brings a high impact to her community, she is also part of the leadership development and coaching team for a group of high potential District of Columbia teachers and assistant principals who are being groomed for positions as principals in the DC Public School system.
